Career Profile
My interest in bleeding edge devices directed me to the relatively new field of study known as digital forensics. Utah Tech University developed a digital forensics program which was one of the first of its kind; the UTU-Computer Crime Institute, throughout which I learned the fundamentals of hardware, file systems, data structures, operating systems, software, and networking principles. I also learned the legal processes and procedures of computer systems in relation to cyber crime.
After graduating, I applied that knowledge to a career in Information Technology where I quickly excelled to a leadership role and furthered my knowledge of computer systems in the modern enterprise.
As the world has become intrinsically reliant on technology, I have focused my career on the availability, reliability, integrity, and security of information in enterprise environments.
Experience
I have built and implemented an information security program across the company to achieve PCI-DSS and SOC 2 compliance for our platform of APIs and services. To achieve this, I have overseen policy design and implementation, application management, endpoint management, MDM, network hardening, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing.
In my DevOps role, I have contributed to and maintained infrastructure using Terraform, created and managed automation workflows using Github Actions and Jenkins, monitored application uptime/performance and generated actionable recommendations, created and maintained data security policies and best practices, and implemented testing at different stages of the development cycle.
I supported a complex infrastructure consisting primarily of Windows servers in a VMWare environment with NetApp storage appliances across multiple datacenters, WAN locations, and Azure Cloud.
I have played a pivotal role in building a hybrid cloud environment with Office 365 and Azure as well as other SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS solutions. I also managed Oracle, Red Hat, and CentOS Linux machines, F5 load balancers, Cohesity backup appliances, among others.
I managed a team of 7 people who handled all the I.T. demands of a technology manufacturing company with 250+ employees. The branches within the department included networking, systems, support, databases, DevOps, and security. I oversaw and was actively involved in the daily tasks of each branch which I lead with Agile project planning.
My experience focused on the migration to and administration of cloud platforms including Google Cloud Platform/G Suite and Microsoft Azure/Office 365 while cultivating and maintaining a robust on-premises architecture. I was also able to use my forensic skills for eDiscovery, penetration testing, network analysis, and file recovery. I have headed extensive security initiatives to ensure the availability, safety, and integrity of company information and data.
My role here focused on improving systems security and the migration of on-premise systems, such as Sharepoint and Exchange, to the cloud. I worked in tandem with a security audit team who conducted penetration testing to identify and eliminate exploits and vulnerabilities.
